One of the latest social media brouhahas is about foreign ownership of TikTok. The two “solutions” most often heard are either sell it to an American, or ban its use in the US.
Frankly I’m appalled that our government thinks is can force a foreign company to sell itself to an American company. They’re acting like bullies.
Now, I don’t have a TikTok account. It’s not my jam. But I know plenty of people who do. They are not happy about this wrinkle. Especially the rumor that Steve Mnuchin is trying to put together a group to make the purchase. Another story we’ve heard is that Mark Zuckerberg would prefer TikTok be banned in the US, believing the users will miraculously migrate to Facebook.

The other morning, a group of women writers were discussing this, and we believe we came up with the perfect solution. Yes, sell TikTok…to Melinda French Gates, MacKenzie Scott, Justine Musk, and Talulah Riley or any combination of these women. I am talking about the ex-wives of Bill Gates (Microsoft), Jeff Bezos (Amazon), and Elon Musk (I’m not gonna list all his interests). Those divorce settlements had to have been hefty.
Wouldn’t it that be a hoot?
