We recently replaced the floor in my kitchen and downstairs pathroom. Out with the Congoleum (so tough to keep clean!) and in with vinyl plank flooring. Although I miss my white floor to keep the kitchen brighter (I lost 12″ of glass when we replaced the windows several years ago, I did choose something light and golden, close to the original hardwood in the rest of the house.

What should have been a one-day job turned into a day and a half because we had several layers of luan ripped out along with several layers of old floor. Dust everywhere!
Then there was an issue with the new toilet in the downstairs bath–actually a couple of issues. Something to do with the flange. Water leaked because of the flange position due to the old floor being ripped up, and water bubbled up under the the new floor and dribbled into our family room. YIKES.

About half the new floor had to be replaced. We didn’t have use of the downstairs bathroom for a week because our plumber was on vacation. Yes, I hired a plumber to fix the problem. And he discovered a flaw in the new toilet. He drew a pencil line to show me the crack.

Thank goodness all of that is behind us now.
